Your trend report for banquet hall events in 2024 is here! Every year, we pay attention to what’s in and what’s out in the world of events so that we can provide our clients and guests the best event experience. And while trends don’t need to dictate how you run your event, it’s important to know what’s current so that your event is as successful as possible.
Here’s what’s in and what’s out for 2024 banquet hall events!
IN
Personalization and individuality
2024 is all about representing the hosts (or guests!) of an event with personalization and individuality being at the forefront of event planning. Whether the event is a casual corporate meeting or an elaborate wedding reception, events this year will feel more curated and familiar.
For corporate events, the company culture is taking centre stage during the planning process, and event planners are focusing on weaving elements of the company vibe throughout the whole event. This is felt from the type of menu chosen, down to the entertainment or activities planned during the event!
For weddings & social events, the experiences and preferences of the host are being more represented during the event. Couples are using their wedding days as a chance to showcase who they really are to their families and friends, and hosts of events like birthday parties are leaning into what their interests are in developing the theme for the party!
Event branding
What’s playing a huge role in banquet hall events in 2024 is event branding, and this is seen for all event types! Event branding includes creating a cohesive look and feel for an event throughout every touchpoint, and is similar to how you would treat a marketing brand. For more corporate events, this includes using the same marketing and branding for every element, from social media posts to itinerary printouts on the day of. For events like weddings, event branding would include all signage using predetermined fonts and even custom crests on display to represent the newlyweds.
Opportunities for content
Social media plays a huge role in the event industry, and this is especially true in 2024. Event content is photo and video taken during an event that is then posted online or used for other marketing purposes. And content is no longer only for corporate events, pushing opportunities for content higher on the priority list in all event planning.
Opportunities for content can look like creating places for guests to take photos, whether that’s a dedicated photo wall or an interactive photo booth. You can also have photographer and videographers walking around to capture content, and dedicated content creators to capture visuals for social media.
OUT
Meaningless favours or goodie bags
With personalization on the rise for events in 2024, favours and goodie bags that aren’t meaningful are on their way out! Hosts are opting for more personalized favours, like homemade treats or items from their favourite vacation spot. Goodie bags at corporate events are including items that guests will actually want to use, instead of branded notepads and pens that will get lost.
Events that run late into the evening
While this isn’t necessarily true for weddings just yet, events that run late into the evening are become less common in the social event and corporate event realms. Corporate events like meetings often happen during the daytime, but even evening galas are ending at a reasonable hour like 9pm. Social events like bridal showers and baby showers are more often opting for brunches and lunches, and even birthday parties are happening earlier in the day!
Weekend-only events
Banquet hall events have never been exclusively on the weekends, but we’re noticing a larger trend towards hosting major events on weekdays. Corporate events have often been held on weekdays to coincide with the standard work day, but even social events like weddings and birthday parties are being moved to weeknights. Calendars are no longer being filled with Saturday-only events, and we’re welcoming this change.
