5 wedding centrepiece ideas that aren’t flowers

Flowers are definitely a wedding day staple, but that doesn’t mean you need to use them everywhere. One of the most popular uses of floral is in centrepieces, and while they’re always stunning, sometimes you just want something different.

We’ve seen all types of centrepieces through our years in the wedding industry, and while we may have our personal favourites, we’re always excited to see what our couples come up with. While a traditional floral centrepiece is always a good idea, we want to share some of our favourite centrepiece ideas that don’t include flowers.

Candles

Next to flowers, candles are almost always included in wedding centrepiece design. But if you’re looking to move away from flowers in centrepieces, then lean into using candles. From taper candles, to tea lights, and even votives, the possibilities are endless. Candles will create a romantic and luxurious vibe. To take your candle centrepieces to the next level, consider hanging tea lights in glass globes, or running varying heights of candles down the length of your long tables.

Greenery

For a natural feel that makes a statement, designing with different types of greenery is a beautiful way to create wedding centrepieces. With greenery, the options are endless. Whether you love the look of eucalyptus garlands, or prefer a more tropical palm centrepiece that stands tall, greenery centrepieces are always stunning.

Candelabras & Chandeliers

A centrepiece style that can look vintage or modern is using candelabras or chandeliers. Whether you’re going for an elegant and grand look, or moody and minimalistic, this type of centrepiece can serve you well. We love seeing how much of an impact candelabra & chandelier styles have on the overall feel of a wedding.

Potted Plants & Succulents

For wedding centrepieces that are unique and unforgettable, consider potted plants and succulents! From faux olive tree centrepieces to real aloe vera plants, this type of centrepiece makes you happy you chose to forego traditional floral centrepieces. Bonus tip: these centrepieces can also function as take-home wedding favours!

Fruits & Vegetables

A seasonal option that’s not floral is incorporating fruits and vegetables! You can design with pumpkins and apples in the fall, whole pineapples for a tropical feeling, or citrus fruit for a Italian / Capri themed wedding. We recommend adding some sort of greenery to your fruits & vegetables centrepieces so that they look more full and more intentional. You can even pull in themes from your wedding shower, and donate or use your fruits & vegetables when your wedding day is done.

Floral centrepieces are always beautiful, but even though flowers are a staple, they’re not a requirement for centrepieces. We love seeing how different every wedding we host looks, and meeting our amazing couples. For more information on hosting your wedding with us, be sure to contact us here.
